Marian Harries
About
Marianne Harries has got a Master Degree in Social Anthropology, and since 1990 she’s been working in developing countries, mostly being responsible for the accompanying measures in water and sanitation projects.
Ms Harries started her career with the international consultant IGIP, among others in Benin and Congo. The last seven years she was working for Lahmeyer in Burundi. She has worked in Africa, Asia and South America in projects funded by KfW, WB, EU, African and Asian Development Bank, DFID, DANIDA…
Participating in all stages of the project cycle from project design to implementation, monitoring and evaluation Ms Harries has gained project management experience as a team leader and being responsible of financial and personal administration.
As a public communication and awareness expert she has organized sensitizing and social marketing campaigns with the help of mass media and specific participative IEC-tools like PHAST, PRA and others. She has organized the participation of the community in the O&M of water and sanitation facilities. Local NGOs are trained for the work with the communities which in turn train the structures responsible of O&M. Ms Harries realizes surveys, writes methodologies and reports, she knows the common software (MS Office) and has got a very good command of the English, French and Spanish language. Due to her long working experience moderation and interpersonal skills are excellent.
