About
Martin Marani is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Nairobi where he teaches, supervises undergraduate and post-graduate students, carries out research and publication, and engages in various consultancy assignments. He holds a bachelors degree in science, a masters degree in environmental studies from Moi University and a PhD in Geography from the University of Salzburg, Austria. Before joining the University of Nairobi, he worked for seven years as a management development trainer at the Kenya School of Government where taught environmental governance, project management and research methods. He has been a visiting fellow at the African Studies Centre at Leiden University, The Netherlands and won the Ernest Mach post-doctoral research award. His past research works have focused on environmental air pollution, resource conflicts, pastoral livelihood systems in drylands, water resource management systems, and river basins, and water infrastructure. Also,Martin has interest in research issues related to political ecology and climate change. He loves reading, research, wilderness expeditions, and making friends.
