Muhammad Shafiqul Alam, Engineering Hydrologist
About
DR MUHAMMAD ALAM (a.k.a. Shafiq) is a professional water engineer and engineering hydrologist with over 12 years of research experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling within Western Australia . His major strengths include urban and rural storm water modelling and management, regional scale flood modelling, ground water modelling, groundwater surface water interactions modelling, catchment run-off modelling and management. Shafiq has demonstrated experience in evaluating impacts of land use change and climate change on hydrologic responses in catchments in terms of change in groundwater level, streamflow, water quality, baseflow, surface runoff and wetland. Shafiq has demonstrated experience in ArcGIS tools for developing maps, analysing large datasets and producing spatially varied raster datasets for 2-D and 3-D models.Shafiq is accomplished in project management and has demonstrated experience in delivering projects on time and within budget. He has demonstrated experience on reviewing internal and external flood models and technical reports. He has demonstrated supervising skills for managing analytical and modelling works of PhD and work experience students.
Shafiq has demonstrated experience on work winning, client liaison, work delegation and business development. He has worked on multiple projects as a lead modeller and he is the lead author of various published technical papers. Shafiq has presented his water modelling research works on eight different occasions in world renowned conferences (MODSIM, HWRS, ISOPE, OMAE, ICMMES, etc. ).
