Neeraja Havaligi, Biodiversity and Climate Change adaptation specialist
About
I am practicing agriculturist, educator, consultant, scientist and a life learner of communities coming together for change. I have a doctorate in environmental science with research focus on urban water and food resilience and urban agrobiodiversity, two Master of Science degrees in agronomy and in plant physiology, and a baccalaureate in agriculture science. My experience includes consulting with United Nations Development Program (UNDP)-Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management, gender mainstreaming and climate change adaptation in countries of Asia and the Pacific, Arab States, Europe and South America. I have also advised sustainability start-ups. I believe that individual and collective change comes in when we identify with our local resources and how we use them, which will lead to growth of diverse, resilient and thriving-living-giving communities.
