Niloofar Sadeghi
About
Ms Niloofar Sadeghi has been the Programme Specialist for Science at UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office (UTCO) since 2005. With an MSc degree in water resource management, Ms Sadeghi has played an integral role in capacity building, advocacy and strategic policy making in different development priorities of the Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkmenistan including water resources management, environmental issues, science & technology policy, natural disasters, trans-boundary resources management and the education sector. She has acted as the liaison between these four countries and UNESCO regional projects in the area of natural sciences.
One of the most significant areas of her work is to bring Afghanistan and Iran closer in managing their transboundary water resources. Furthermore, Ms Sadeghi has proactively contributed to joint programming and creating synergy among the work of UNESCO with other UN agencies including joint initiatives with UN-Habitat, UNDP and FAO. Prior to joining UNESCO, Ms Sadeghi worked in different water management projects and schemes financed by the World Bank as well as the Asian Development Bank. She has delivered several lectures in different specialized gatherings with a number of papers published in scientific journals and conferences.
