About
I'm a marine biologist with expertise in marine and estuarine phytoplankton composition and ecology. Further to my postgraduate studies, I have competed a PhD on the Paleolimnology of South Africa's coastal lakes with the focus on sealevel changes during the Holocene (10,000 year) in order to better support decision support systems for South African estuaries and freshwater reserve determinations. Currently I am the on-site Marine Biologist at one of South Africa's largest abalone aquaculture farms responsible for all R&D on the farms, coastal monitoring (including remote sensing) and the development of risk assessment tools with regards to Harmful Algal Blooms. I also facilitate collaborative research with a number of the country's universities, government research institutes and aquatic feed producers.Industry experience
