Paul Mitchell-Banks
About
Paul was born in England but moved to Prince Rupert as a young child. Growing up, his world was about the forestry and fishing industry, a largely undiscovered port with global potential and a multicultural community with numerous First Nations. Prince Rupert has the highest per capita Aboriginal population of any community in Canada, and it was a unique experience to grow up in, and influenced his life and career path. Paul has an educational background with four degrees in separate disciplines from three universities and holds two professional designations. He has taken additional professional training in France, Finland, and South Africa. He has presented in over 60 international conferences and written a number of book chapters on First Nations, land and resource management and planning, forestry and tourism. He established Central Coast Consulting in 1989, and over the years, when not working for government, large engineering and consulting firms or overseas as a senior researcher, this has been the firm through which most of his work with corporations, First Nations, communities, the provincial government and NGOs has been carried out. Paul is an Adjunct Professor at the UBC Land and Water Programme and a member of the professional advisory committee.
