About

Mr. Faruque has more than 29 years of international development project management experience in Bangladesh, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation, renewable energy finance, micro-finance and livelihoods. As Head of Operations of the Renewable Energy Sector of Rural Services Foundation, worked for green finance, Solar System, biogas systems, improved cooking systems, and other socio-economic activities. He worked for UNDP/UNOPS as a Credit Specialist for seven years as country focal point, five years in Islamic Relief Worldwide as Program Manager for microfinance & livelihood, more than two and half years at the NGO Forum for Drinking Water and Sanitation finance as Project Chief and six and half years in other organizations. He also led the bti energy as COO for nine months. He led the access to energy program in Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy for nearly nine years. Currently he has been leading a national MFI Ashrai and board of Directors in Rural Services Foundation (RSF). Mr. Faruque has a multidisciplinary background in social science, business administration, and mechanical engineering. He has authored publications in microfinance, social and economic development, and group dynamics & leadership development. A number of studies conducted for ADB, IDCOL, Credit Development Forum (CDF), Rahimafrooz and IRW.

  1. Submitted an abstract on Clean Cookstove Business Model and Scholarship awarded as a session speaker by Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, UN Foundation to participate in the Clean Cookstove Forum 2015, Accra, Ghana
  2. Sponsorship awarded as representative  of RSF for Zayed Future Energy Prize as one of four finalists 2016  as NGO Category
  3. Co-author and team leader of a project proposal of IRW to EU call on food security in 2008 and the project was awarded 4.3 million Euro
