Regla Somoza, Hydrologist of natural disasters
About
I have a degree in Hydrographic Engineering and Oceanography from the "Academia Naval Granma" University, Havana, Cuba (1999). Specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (2006), Master in Meteorology (2010) and PhD in Remote Sensing (2015) by the National Institute of Space Research (INPE), Brazil.
Since October 2014, I have been a federal public servant working as Technologist of Hydrological Extremes at the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (CEMADEN). My department is the situation room, where the operational activities for monitoring and early warnings broadcasts are carried out 24 hours a day and every day of the year.
I have experienced on the following areas: Nautical Cartography; Fishing Oceanography; Hydrology and Geosciences, with emphasis on remote sensing, dynamic models of hydrological extremes and integrated management of water resources at the coastal zone.
