Shelley Goldberg is an investment advisor and environmental sustainability consultant with an emphasis on double-bottom line initiatives. She consults to and arranges financing for businesses that have an environmental focus aiming to put sustainability at the core of the organization. Having structured and managed portfolios for over 20 years, she is working toward an investment management practice with an embedded ESG focus.
Previously Shelley worked over 20 years in the capital markets on both the sell and buy sides with sector expertise in global resources and commodities including energy (traditional and alternative), metals and mining and agriculture in addition to the ancillary services of water, weather, shipping and infrastructure. She has a solid background in physical and financial commodity investments, portfolio and hedge fund management along with expertise in trading, hedging, risk management and asset allocation within a macro-framework.
Shelley has been a macroeconomic strategist, trader and investment advisor for multi-asset, top-down portfolio managers. She founded and managed the energy fund, G3 Capital Partners, LLC, and ran the largest fund-of-funds devoted to natural resources with Swiss private bank, Union Bancaire Priveé. She also was a trading and investments strategist for Brevan Howard Asset Management LLP, a multi-billion- dollar hedge fund and for Nouriel Roubini of Roubini Global Economics.
Since 2013 Shelley has channeled her sector-specific knowledge toward leadership roles in impact investing with the goal of monetizing developments in environmental sustainability. Shelley is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors of Highland Light Management Corp., an environmentally sustainable oil and gas technology, and is on the board of Think Beyond Plastic™ Accelerator, Inc. which advances entrepreneurship and inspires innovation in solutions that reduce global plastic pollution. She is an Investment Advisor to Sustainable Farm Partners LLP, which converts conventional GMO-based farmland to certified organic and serves on the Advisory Board of Chobe Advisors, LLC, which builds and manages 100% solar fueled sustainable greenhouses. She is also a Member of the Board of The I Can Still Do that Foundation, which helps America meet the needs of a new economy.
Shelley graduated from Tufts University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and Spanish and received a Master of Business Administration from New York University Stern School of Business in finance and international business. Currently a contract writer for Bloomberg, she publishes frequently on sustainability topics and is often invited to speak and serve on panels at industry conferences. She is featured on television and online forums as an expert in commodities and impact investing.
