Todd Colpron, Member Board of Directors at Water for Good
About
Water for Good is a faith based non-profit headquartered from Indiana focused specifically on the Central African Republic. It is the second poorest country in the world and one of the most unstable. Since 2004, WFG has drilled 650 new wells, rehabilitated more than 900 old broken water pumps and currently maintain more than 1,000 which serves 10% of the population.
We believe the critical missing piece for sustainable water is well maintenance. According to the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) more than 50,000 water wells are broken across rural Africa. As many as 60% of the wells installed in Africa to deliver clean water may be broken or dysfunctional with the value at more than $1BIL.
The largest funding-raising organization in the world specifically for water is Charity Water. Their President Christopher Gorder says "WFG has one of the best maintenance programs for rural water in the world that I have seen."
