I began work with the NC Division of Water Quality (Environmental regulatory agency) in 1971 and retired from the agency as Division Director in July 2001. Began work with the NC Pork Council (a trade organization representing pork producers) in August of 2001 as the Director of Environmental Services. Started my own company in October 2010 and continue to consult with and lobby for clients mostly in the area of agriculture and waste management.
