Tony Clamp, Project Developer and Transaction Advisor

Mr. Clamp is Managing Director of Compass Infrastructure, a London based project development and transaction advisory firm working with sponsors, governments and investors in privately financed infrastructure around the world.

Mr. Clamp is an expert in PPP projects in developed and developing countries with experience in energy, water, transportation and a range of other infrastructure sectors. He has over twenty-five years’ experience in structuring, implementing and raising financing for projects in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, including with infrastructure funds and including the World Bank Group.

From 2015-16, Mr. Clamp was Senior Advisor to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on PPPs in Europe and Central Asia advising governments develop privately financed infrastructure projects, including in renewable energy and wastewater treatment.

From 2006-14, Mr. Clamp was a Director with international investors, CVC Capital Partners and IFM Investors, where he led the development of a dedicated infrastructure fund and led infrastructure investments in Europe and North America, including the acquisition of UK water utility AWG.

From 2002-05, Mr. Clamp was Head of Project Finance with Thames Water, where he raised equity and debt finance for BOT and concession projects in the water and wastewater sectors in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America, and acted as acted as lead project developer on major projects, including under the UK Government’s PFI program.

From 1993-2002, Mr. Clamp held senior investment roles with the IFC in Washington, DC, where he managed a investment fund in Africa and advised governments on their energy and infrastructure privatization and PPP programs, including leading the privatization of MWSS, the water and wastewater utility in Manila.

Mr. Clamp, a UK National and an MBA from Cass Business School in London, was initially trained as an engineer, is married with two children and lives in the UK.
