AWT is a newly formed subsidiary of TAQNIA and is a commercial arm of KACST, headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is owned and funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, a key strategic investment agency of the Saudi government. 

AWT is rapidly building its capabilities in engineering, design, innovation, project management and O&M in the field of water desalination and water reuse.

Al Khafji SWRO powered by solar is 1st AWT Project. It is the world's first large-scale desalination plant powered by solar currently being built in Saudi Arabia is scheduled for completion early 2017.
