THE POSITION:
The position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and development of high profile landscape areas within AlburyCity.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Undertake all employee management activities relevant to the role, including; recruitment, performance management/reviews, employee development, disciplinary action, rostering and timesheets, as well as ensuring a high level of employee motivation and team harmony.
- Ensure the effective coordination of landscape maintenance programs.
- Undertake soil and water, plant nutrition and pests and disease management.
- Coordinate all resources, including staff and tasks to complete assigned works.
- Engage and manage contractors.
- Monitor and report on financial performance.
- Assist in business plan and budget preparation.
- Supervise staff to carry out maintenance and development projects.
- Assist in preparing designs and coordinate the implementation of high profile landscape projects.
- Respond appropriately to customer requests and complaints in accordance with AlburyCity's Customer Experience Charter.
- Be available as required for emergency situations.
- Read and interpret plans and assist in the development of landscape designs.
- Prepare reports and submissions relating to projects.
- Provide advice to groups and the public in an informed and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, policies, regulations and all legislative requirements for landscape maintenance and construction are followed.
- Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner and ensure all routine maintenance is carried out.
- Improve efficiency through the implementation of a continuous improvement approach.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
- Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38-hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
- This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
- This position will be required to be on call outside normal working hours on occasions. This will be in agreement with the supervisor and will attract the appropriate allowance.
- In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance, in line with the Award.
- This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
o Hepatitis A
o Hepatitis B - This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position is subject to pre-employment and ongoing alcohol and other drug testing in accordance with AlburyCity procedures.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
- A fully maintained vehicle is available with access to AlburyCity's Commuter Use Program.
- This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act.
- The position is located at the Landscape Services Depot, Smollett Street, Albury with regular visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Minimum Certificate IV in a Horticultural discipline and/or extensive relevant industry experience
- Construction Induction Card
- Class C (Standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Medium Rigid (Class 3A) Licence
- Relevant qualifications in supervision/leadership
- Traffic Control Certificate
- Prepare a work zone (orange card)
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated industry experience in landscape maintenance and construction activities, turf management and irrigation maintenance and leading a multidisciplinary team
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- An in-depth knowledge of amenity horticulture
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to maintain asset management systems, including the use of data gathering devices and mapping systems.

The Directorate : Infrastructure Planning and Environment - Our Infrastructure, Planning & Environment Directorate focuses on maintaining and improving our special and unique city and its surrounds.
The groups within our directorate take care of our place as well as ensure that we grow and develop the city in a planned, balanced and sustainable way. We invest in and build infrastructure to meet everyone’s needs, and we provide and maintain quality facilities and services that rival, and even surpass, those in larger cities. We are also responsible for preserving our natural environment across our many and varied landscapes.
