Responsibilities 

Based in Thetford.

As a Sludge Technician, working on a rotating shift, you will be part of a team that works together to provide an important 24 hour service for our sludge treatment process. This team orientated position will see you help operate treatment centres in order to produce a biosolids fertiliser product that can be recycled and sold to the agricultural market.

Daily responsibilities will include monitoring and making adjustments to the processes on the sludge processing and treatment plant, altering chemical dose rates and pump speeds, completing daily laboratory tests on the process and final product to ensure quality is maintained and completing work reports. Taking responsibility for process changes and the Sludge Treatment Centre as a whole you will also be required to unblock pumps, keep the site tidy and safe and report quality incidents to the manager within the required timescales.

 

Requirements 

To succeed in this role, you will have experience of operating in the water recycling industry and posses a basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, though further training will be provided. This will be backed up by an NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or equivalent experience in a Craft or Science subject. Strong skills in both numeracy and literacy are also vital.

You will need some IT skills and good knowledge of health and safety as occasionally you may be required to assist with Works Technician duties. You also will need to be self motivated and be able to work to your own initiative.
