AquaBounty raises Atlantic salmon in carefully monitored, indoor, land-based farms. AquaBounty’s genetically engineered salmon, have been precision-bred to reach market size in approximately half the time of conventional salmon, with improved efficiency. AquaBounty’s Atlantic salmon was genetically engineered one time, 30 years ago, to help the fish during their early, most vulnerable stages of growth. The Role
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production and operation of the new state of the art AquaBounty Ohio farm. The role will involve planning and coordination of all production units within the farm (except processing). The role will require planning as well as recommending and implementing changes if necessary across all production units to ensure consistency, continuous improvement, quality improvement and minimizing risk and fish loss.
The production manager will:
- Oversee all aspects of farm production performance ensuring we stay within standards, budget, and deadlines by setting productivity goals and monitoring success through established KPIs/metrics
- Ensure the production team has the necessary tools and equipment to deliver on the production plan goals
- Lead all production planning from receipt of the eggs to the hatchery, nursery and grow out areas of the farm
- Provide leadership and coaching in the philosophy of continuous improvement
- Coach, train and implement quality, safety, and 5S standards and processes, and recommend changes as opportunities arise
- Ensure production equipment functions properly and increases efficiencies
The role requires extensive leadership experience in land based/RAS fish farming production environment, ideally with Salmonids. You must be a strong people leader that thrives in a team-based, inclusive, continuous-improvement environment.
