Ardurra is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our staff in Central Florida. Home office locations include Orlando, Tampa, or St. Augustine.
Primary Function
Serve as a lead project engineer and/or task manager for stormwater and surface water planning and design projects and tasks. Perform and manage data collection efforts and pre-processing of large datasets, such as hydrologic observations, environmental and climatic data, and topographic data. Develop hydrologic/hydraulic models for projects ranging from single-lot developments to large watersheds. Process and analyze results and prepare technical reports. Perform and manage alternatives analyses including conceptual level design of stormwater management systems, preliminary cost estimation, and CIP development. .Design of stormwater management systems including culverts, storm sewer, open channels, storage and water quality BMPs. Permit application and approvals. Assist in preparation of proposals, sales presentations, scopes of work, budgets and schedules.
You will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. You will focus on solving our clients flood management and water quality challenges related to watershed management, stormwater master planning, NPDES, and TMDLs and should expect to develop experience related to drainage design, hydraulic and hydraulic modeling, water quality assessment, data analysis, and reporting.
Primary Duties
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling;
- Water quality assessments;
- Drainage design and permitting;
- Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
- In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
- Managing, evaluating, and summarizing monitoring data;
- Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water;
- Water resources sustainability and resiliency planning; and
- Preparing technical reports.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with specialty in Water Resources Engineering preferred
- PE license in FL
- Minimum 6 years of directly applicable experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interface with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies is critical
- Highly self-motivated, able to anticipate and initiate subsequent project tasks, working independently or with minimal instruction
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to function efficiently within a project team environment
- Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS, ICPR, and SWMM preferred
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or MicroStation/GEOPAK preferred.
