You are an innovative Product Design Engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a track record of technical expertise in applying ultrasonic technology to hydraulic metrology. You will deploy your design for automation skills to enable high speed assembly processes and testing. You will get to work with an amazing team of individuals across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Analytics and Research.
Your drive and creativity will shape the future of ultrasonic water meter design and manufacturing. You will be influential in delivering next generation products to our portfolio.
This new global role is available at our Research and Development Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI or at our Ultrasonic Innovation Center in Lulea, Sweden.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure hydraulic metering, registration and communication products are designed with material systems, geometric features and technique that enable high speed assembly operations.
- Responsible for applying solid ultrasonic flow measuring principles to metering products.
- Drive design for automated assembly and test philosophy across next generation Badger Meter product portfolio. Provide training, tools and subject matter expertise to engineering community in areas of DFAA and DFT.
- Collaboratively work with a cross functional team to design and develop next generation products.
- Formulate and execute test plans to validate and qualify designs in our world class hydraulic laboratories.
- Engage with supply chain and manufacturing to drive efficient high-volume automated manufacturing and test processes
- Envision future needs of global customers. Work with the Marketing team to define performance and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- B.S. in Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in designing products for high volume automated assembly and test processes.
- 5+ years’ experience in New Product Development (NPD) designing products for flow applications
- Experience with ultrasonic metering preferred, other related product experience will be considered
- Strong data driven analytical skills. Assist in defining problems and causes, and apply problem solving techniques.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, maintaining open communication and positive working relationships with staff.
- Ready to take on a leadership role in a growing Engineering environment.
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Black Belt or Green Belt a plus
