Products like Tela-Blast and Septa-Flush have been specifically created for RV and marine septic tanks. How enzymes work is quite simple. For example, RC-4 is formulated form lipase, amylase, and protease. The same enzymes produced by your digestive system.  When it is introduced in the septic system from the toilet, the enzymes digest the mud that has been accumulating for years and unclog the perforated pipes of the drainage field. This frees the system and the natural process of biodegradation is once again working. You can therefore empty your septic tank less frequently and extend the life of your drainage field. Many different types of soil exist: the 1st type, non-compacting (grave and sand), filters and drains easily; the 2nd type, semi-compacting (brown and black earth), filters and drains more slowly; the 3rd type, highly compacting (clay and rock), filters and drains with difficulty. The life expectancy of your drainage field will greatly depend on the type of soil. For example, a drainage field built in clay soil will have a life expectancy of 7 to 10 years, (unless, of course, it was maintained with RC-4 enzymes). Detergents, cleaning products, hair, fibers, excrements, paper, soaps, oils and grease, fabric and bleach products combine together to form a black sludge in the drainage pipes and filtering sand. This prevents water from percolating through the soil and evacuating the drainage field. It is therefore important to make sure that the enzymes are in sufficient quantity and powerful enough to liquefy and digest that organic material. Often, a little help is necessary. Opt for Bio-Sol!
