Design, Build and Operate First Stage of Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant

 

The Hong Kong office of BLACK & VEATCH is now seeking a candidate to fill the Chief Resident Engineer post for Contract No. 13/WSD/17 – Design, Build and Operate First Stage of Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant. The construction works comprise the construction of the first stage of the desalination plant with a water production capacity at 135 million litres per day with provision for future expansion to the ultimate water production capacity up to 270 million litres per day when necessary, including the construction of the intake and outfall facilities; the construction of water treatment facilities; and the construction of ancillary facilities. The Chief Resident Engineer will be required to lead a team of approximately 150 full-time resident site staff to supervise the construction works.  The Design, Build and Operate contract is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2019 for completion of construction in 2022.  Please refer to the project website at the hyperlink below: https://www.tkodesal.hk/

 

Candidates should (a) be a Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers or equivalent in the disciplines of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or electrical engineering with at least 15 years relevant post-qualification experience; and (b) possess at least 3 years of project and contract management experience in the lead role of Project Manager, Construction Manager, Engineering Manager, or equivalent for the construction of at least one seawater desalination plant in which the plant has a capacity of at least 50 million litres per day using seawater reverse osmosis technology.  Preferences will be given to candidates with the following attributes: result oriented, technically superior, good command of both written and spoken English,  strong leadership, team player, and aptitudes for value-added innovations.

 

The successful candidate will be appointed on contract terms for 2 years. Renewal of contract will be subject to the need of the project and the performance of the candidate.

 

We offer salary and benefits in accordance with the conditions of employment promulgated by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of employment.  Starting monthly salary is HK$144,100 (US$18,474) plus 22 days vacation leave per year, medical benefit under a medical and dental scheme and housing benefit of HK$30,803 (US$3,949) per month (for a maximum aggregate period of 120 months). An end-of-contract gratuity equivalent to 15% of the total basic salary may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the employment contract. Such gratuity will include the contribution made by the Employer towards a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance.

 

The Chief Resident Engineer will be in attendance 5-1/2 working days and 44 hours in a week.
