Job Summary
Our U.S. planning and water resources business has seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from water quality impairment, stream degradation, ecological degradation, effluent and mine tailing management through deep well injection; watershed analysis and management, stormwater planning and design, support of minimum flows and levels (MFLs) through aquifer recharge programs; surface water management options; and the development of alternative water supplies. Challenges surrounding water quality, ecosystem impacts, water scarcity, drought resiliency, groundwater depletion, climate variability, sea level rise, saltwater intrusion, and evolving regulations are driving innovative water resource projects across the Country. In Florida, as well as other locations across the US, we anticipate an increased demand for creative integrated water resource, watershed and groundwater planning and design solutions. This, therefore, represents a strategic business opportunity for Black & Veatch, and the Water Resource & Watershed National Practice Lead will help the company grow its market share in the SE and across the Country by providing world-class planning and water resource services
Key Responsibilities
- Water Resource & Watershed Planning National Practice Lead: Lead and orchestrate the technical elements of water resource planning and implementation efforts in the SE and across the country. Lead teams and leverage modeling tools, GIS, big data, 1 and 2-D H&H and groundwater models, etc. to support clients in the development of solutions to their water challenges.
- Lead and develop the technical elements of watershed and stormwater analysis, modeling, ecological restoration, steam stabilization, and planning. Support watershed, stormwater, surface and groundwater modeling efforts across the U.S.
- Support scenario planning implementation projects for integrated watershed management, green infrastructure, steam restoration, and surface water management programs and natural systems restoration projects throughout the SE on strategic national opportunities.
- Support climate change resilience planning and implementation efforts
- Support coastal resilience studies and implementation projects
- Support mine tailing and effluent management projects
- Support MFL studies and mitigation projects for water bodies, streams, springs, and rivers throughout the region.
- Support our other Florida, SE, and National leaders and professionals to grow our Planning, Asset Management, Infrastructure Systems, and East Region Business.
- Support Pursuits of strategic client opportunities and new services for existing clients.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading technical teams and serving in client-facing roles
- 15+ years of watershed management, water resource planning and design project experience utilizing models and sophisticated planning tools to solve client water challenges
- Experience leading project teams and executing water resource studies and implementation projects that include watershed management, stream stabilization, ecological restoration, surface water management, water quality, operation, optimization, etc. efforts
- Experience in working with the regulatory agencies and their permitting functions
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 15 years related work experience.
