Multi-media filtration system. It is used for removing solids (including algae, silt, biological solids, etc.) from potable water, seawater (prior to desalination), rainwater or treated wastewater. It is especially suited to phosphorus removal (in conjunction with ferric dosing) and typically achieves <0.1 mg/l total phosphorus.
The benefit of a multimedia filter compared to conventional sand filters and dual media filters is a much higher quality of filtered water, comparable to micro- or ultra-filtration.
