Job Description:
The Superintendent is responsible for the development, training, and scheduling of Washington Water Service (WWS) Water Quality Field Technicians; for data acquisition, fulfilling Department of Health (DOH) monitoring requirements and populating monthly DOH reports in accordance with DOH guidelines as well as building and maintaining strong working relationships with the Washing State Department of Health, Department of Ecology, and other WWS department heads to accomplish WWS objectives. The Superintendent prepares reports for Washington State Department of Health and is required to oversee operations, maintenance and repairs to all treatment facilities. The position is located in Gig Harbor, WA.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises staff, including prioritizing and assigning work; may conduct performance reviews, and may oversee the training of staff
Operates and maintains chemical pumps and motors
Oversees testing, repairs, and maintenance of safety equipment
Handles hazardous materials
Monitors and records chlorine residuals throughout the distribution systems
Monitors and records overall operation and security of well sites
Operates and maintains filtration systems
Operates motor vehicles
Coordinates with, communicates with, and engages outside agencies and officials
Supports the relationship between WWS and the general public
Participates in the supervisory after hours on call program
Operates fork lift
Schedules and supervises tasks for water quality field technicians
Manages projects and assets
Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
Performs other duties as required or assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent relevant water utility experience
Five years water system operations or potable water treatment experience
One year of increasingly responsible experience in a supervisory role desired
Water Distribution Manager 2, Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 and Cross Connection Specialist certifications, or the ability to obtain them within 12 months of hire is required
First Aid Certification, and Fork Lift Certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A Driver’s License and CDL Hazmat endorsement are desired
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Valid Washington State driver’s license

Salary Range: $74,400 - $134,000
