Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility
About
Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility (CVWRF) is a state-of-the-art facility that treats wastewater using a trickling filter/solids contact process for secondary treatment. Every day, millions of gallons of wastewater are collected and piped into the facility from the following member entities:
- Cottonwood Improvement District
- Granger-Hunter Improvement District
- Kearns Improvement District
- Mt. Olympus Improvement District
- Murray City
- South Salt Lake City
- Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District
CVWRF treats 50 to 60 million gallons of wastewater daily from these entities and clean water is returned to the Jordan River system. There are two components to Central Valley’s Facility: the collection system and the treatment facility. The collection system gathers all the wastewater and conveys it to the treatment facility. Once at the treatment facility, the wastewater undergoes treatment processes to meet Utah’s water quality standards.
