Location: Remote, must be located in or willing to relocate to any major city in California
Eligibility : charity: water is a fully remote organization and hires from all 50 U.S. states. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in the United States without the need for company sponsorship now or in the future.
JOB HIGHLIGHT
You'll build meaningful long-term relationships with new and existing major donors and take a strategic approach to growing their lifetime giving. You’ll directly and significantly contribute to the organization’s bottom line.
JOB SUMMARY
As Senior Key Relationships Officer, you’ll report to the Director of Key Relationships and work alongside a passionate and dedicated team of fundraisers. You’ll cultivate and steward a portfolio of existing and new major donors to support both Operations (The Well) and Water (Water Project Sponsorships). You’ll inspire and engage previously untapped donor audiences to join the charity: water mission, communicate organizational priorities and impact to current supporters, and collaborate with other members of the Key Relationships team to continuously improve the donor experience.
YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…
● Contributing to the collective team and organization goals, raising money across multiple major gift revenue streams
● Developing a qualified portfolio of current and prospective major supporters, capable of donating a minimum of five and six-figure gifts
● Cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donor relationships, with the goal of raising a minimum of $3M+ annually once fully onboarded
● Partnering with and assisting Executive Leadership in cultivating principal givers, lending expertise and support from proposal development to solicitation and allocation of resources
● Identifying potential planned giving opportunities and partnering with our legacy giving team to meaningfully engage supporters in such conversations
● Maintaining a robust travel schedule to maximize face-to-face time with your portfolio of relationships with the goal of 8-10 visits a month
● Partnering with the Key Relationships Experience team to coordinate and lead cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year to share the charity: water story with new audiences
● Mentoring associate-level team members and directly managing them, as appropriate
● Consistently delivering a thoughtful, creative, and exceptional donor experience
● Engaging in continued learning around charity: water’s programmatic work and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)-related topics in general
YOU MUST HAVE…
● Bachelor’s Degree
● 5-7 years of fundraising experience from major donor audiences
● Proven experience managing and growing a portfolio of donors within a mid-to-large nonprofit organization
● Highly refined emotional intelligence and the ability to relate to, communicate, and build consensus across a wide range of audiences
● A proven track record of converting prospective donors into major donors
● Outstanding communication skills, presence, and positive attitude
● Proficiency using a CRM and an appreciation for good record-keeping
● Experience partnering with Senior Executives in a matrixed fundraising environment
● Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE…
● A Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or similar field
● Management experience
● Familiarity with Planned Giving
● Experience systematically engaging with giving sources such as Community Foundations, Family Foundations & DAFs, etc at scale
● Experience with Salesforce
