The Regional Water Authority (RWA) is seeking a knowledgeable and highly motivated individual to become a key member of our small but effective team, serving the interests of municipal water suppliers in the Sacramento Region. RWA is seeking a Manager of Strategic Affairs with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills to provide policy support to the executive director and Board, manage programs relating to the regulation of water resources, integrated water resources management programs, federal affairs, coordinate activities with member agencies, develop and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal staff and elected officials.
The Authority The Regional Water Authority is a joint powers agency that includes 20 municipal water suppliers serving two million people in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Yolo, and Sutter Counties. RWA’s mission is to serve, represent and align the interests of regional water providers and stakeholders for the purpose of improving water supply reliability, availability, quality, and affordability.
The Position The principal responsibility of the Manager of Strategic Affairs will be leadership of RWA’s Water Resource Management Regulatory Affairs Program and Water Resilience Program, which includes, RWA’s office is in Citrus Heights, about 15 miles from downtown Sacramento. The incumbent will also spend considerable time working in and around the Capitol. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. RWA offers PERS retirement and other comprehensive benefits.
Qualifications Eight years’ experience in water or natural resources management, public policy development, public administration, law, or a related field. Bachelor’s or higher degree(s) in a resources or public policy related field required.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are a must. Knowledge of California water resources and regulatory processes is a must.
