Responsibilities
- Designs roadway and traffic control systems, sewer systems, water distribution systems, wastewater treatment systems and structures in compliance with all state and municipal specifications using field survey data. Designs construction projects and is responsible for maintaining accurate up-to-date records of projects assigned. Provides cost estimates, computes project quantities, and determines partial and final payment to be made to contractors for construction projects in the Capital Improvement Program. Prepares plans, specifications and estimates for construction work performed by City crews or private contractors. Reviews projects designed by consultants or other engineers and uses survey data and recorded deeds to prepare legal descriptions of various properties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering AND 4 years of experience in designing and/or constructing capital improvement projects.
Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
Certifications
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) by the State of Ohio or be able to obtain registration through a reciprocity agreement.
License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Background Check
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
