The City of Riverside, Public Utilities Department (RPU) is accepting applications for the position of  UTILITIES WATER SYSTEMS OPERATIONS MANAGER (NON-CALSSIFIED)  to fill one (1) vacancy in the  Water Operations Division.    The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.

Under general direction, the Utilities Water Systems Operations Manager is to plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Water Operations and/or Field Division within the Public Utilities Department including water transmission and distribution, water treatment, water production, recycled water, non-potable water, and overall water system operations. The Utilities Water Systems Operations Manager is to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Assistant General Manager/Water Delivery.

 

*Positions designated as Non-Classified are exempt from the classified service. The incumbent shall be appointed "at-will" and serve at the pleasure of the City Manager.

Qualifications

 

Option I:

 

Education:   Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, public administration, business administration or related field.  A Master's degree in a related field is highly desirable.

 

Experience:   Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and management of a large water treatment and/or distribution system, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.

Option II:

Education:   High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).

Experience:   Nine years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and management of a large water treatment and/or distribution system, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
