Job description and role:
As part of the Analytical team, the Analytical Chemists will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations in Norwich, UK. The ideal candidate should be looking for a new challenge in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and has significant experience in developing a broad spectrum of analytical methods, particularly with optical and LC-MS equipment. This exciting role will be cross-disciplinary, working with synthetic biologists, fermentation scientists, analytical scientists and informaticians. Colorifix is looking for a candidate who enjoys multidisciplinary teamwork, taking on challenges, shows flexibility and strong attention to detail.
● Running our in-house analytical methods that will ensure the quality and safety of our products and processes with a particular focus on natural pigments, sugars, amino acids and fermentation products
● Perform these methods with a high degree of accuracy and precision
● Performing sample analysis on experimental samples and on our prototype and market-ready products
● Discuss and present an interpretation of analytical results in collaboration with the Informatics team
● Working closely with other teams to ensure that the analytical chemistry results are most effectively used to improve our processes and products

Essential skills and experience:
● MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related areas with a focus on analytical methods or quality control
● A minimum of 2-4 years of experience preferably in industry
● Experience carrying out analytical methods according to QC protocols particularly HPLC, but also involving spectrophotometers and LC-MS
● You are highly organised with a strong attention to detail
● Ability to deliver high-quality work under constraints of time
● Ability to work closely in an interdisciplinary and multicultural team
● Ability to manage several requests simultaneously

Desirable skills and experience:
● Experience with extraction and analysis of natural pigments and fermentation products
● Experience with method development
● Experience with Waters HPLC systems and Empower Software

Title : Analytical Chemist
Location:
 Innovation Centre, Norwich Research Park, Colney, Norwich.
Remuneration:  £31-37,000 depending on experience
Holidays:  25 + BH + Birthday FTE
