Senior GIS Analyst

Due to continued growth the position of  Senior GIS Analyst  has become available to join our successful GIS Team within our Digital Solutions Sector. 

This is a predominantly  home-based role but flexibility to travel to our offices in Manchester and/or London is required , and client / office / site attendance may also be required around 2 days a week. 

Reporting to the GIS Lead, the  Senior GIS Analyst  will work across the business (including centrally, sectors and contracts) to implement the Digital Biodiversity Management capability along with GIS solutions to derive customer and business benefits through geospatial information, spatial analysis, web maps and web apps. 

We need someone with  ArcGIS Pro  experience at the minimum, and ideally someone with experience in other Esri products i.e. ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Survey123, Field Maps, dashboards etc. FME and Python would be a bonus too.

You will need to have a background and interest in both mapping and data, capturing and processing geospatial data and using it to develop Costain’s GIS-based data-centric solutions preferably across the  Transportation, Defence and Water  sectors. You will also have an interest in environment and sustainability themes including biodiversity calculations, natural capital, and decarbonisation.

Role Requirements

·          Degree level or above in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or Software Development BEng/BA or equivalent, MSc preferred.

·          Advanced Python experience will be highly beneficial.

·          Able to develop client facing opportunities and act as a trusted client advisor.

·           Expert knowledge and practical experience with the Esri platform including ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and field applications.

·           Experience with FME and/or programming languages (eg Python, JavaScript, SQL)

·          You must be legally able to work in the UK and willing to travel to contracts and/or customers as required.

·          Knowledge of GIS, ESRI products, Open Data, and an awareness of current industry trends

·          Knowledge of biodiversity reporting schemes and metrics, environmental standards for large construction projects and NetZero principles

·          Good communicator and collaborative in approach with an ability to interpret and understand client requirements.
