Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.

The Sandec Department (Sanitation, Water and Solid Waste for Development) is currently looking to fill the position for a new project on Water Supply and Treatment in Low- and Middle-Income Settings

Scientific Project Manager 80%-100%

The Water, Behavior Change and Environmental Sanitation (WABES)  program seeks to improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH), especially for marginalised populations in rural and small town settings. WABES will contribute to a range of objectives set by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) Global Programme Water Framework during 2021-2024.

We are looking for  a highly motivated and qualified individual to work on diverse collaborative research projects in Uganda and Nepal. Two main themes are currently the focus of our research:

1. WASH integration: Identifying the costs and benefits of water supply service planning under an integrated framework.
2. Management approaches: Adapting financial models and technology arrangements for improved management of small-scale piped supplies in small towns and rural communities.

This position is targeted towards a junior staff member.

Position details

Duration: 80%-100% working time.

Timeline: Earliest starting date is 1 February 2023. Interviews will begin 1 December 2022.

Location: This position is based in Dübendorf, Switzerland with regular international travel.
