The Opportunity
FSSD is currently seeking a candidate(s) to fill a full-time position(s) in the Operation & Maintenance Technician series within the Operations Department.
As an FSSD Operator you will perform typical operational duties to ensure a safe and efficient treatment process while maintaining complete permit compliance. These duties may include overseeing the operation and inspection of plant equipment and pump stations, making any adjustments necessary to maintain an efficient operation, monitoring critical control points, performing daily plant checks, monitoring instrumentation and control systems, and performing housekeeping and preventative maintenance assignments.
O&M Technician 3: $ 41.53 – $51.91 per hour
The O&M Technician 3 is a journey-level position in the Technician series. This position may serve as a Lead Operator for a designated shift. This technical position performs a variety of skilled tasks and more complex duties related to the operation of the District’s wastewater treatment plant. Must possess a minimum of a Grade II Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board.
O&M Technician 4: $ 47.63 – $59.53 per hour
The O&M Technician 4 is an advanced journey-level position in the Technician series. This senior-level position serves as a Lead Operator, ensures completion of shift’s activities, participates in process control management, and provides general training and supervision to lower-level O&M Technicians. Must possess a minimum of a Grade III Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board.
O&M Technician 5: $ 52.06 – $65.07 per hour
The O&M Technician 5 is an advanced journey-level position providing departmental leadership and technical expertise in the operation of the plant. This senior-level is responsible for maintaining efficient process control methods, validates permit compliance data, and reviews regulatory reports, provides training and supervision to lower-level O&M Technicians. This technician may act as department liaison for interdepartmental projects, and coordinator in capital improvement projects. Must possess a minimum of a Grade IV Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board.

Will have excellent interpersonal skills in order to work in an effective manner with all levels of employees. The desirable knowledge, skills, and competencies include, but not limited to:
- Knowledge of water or wastewater utilities systems
- Work independently as well as part of a team depending on assignments
- Willingness to work outside of normal work hours to support various projects or assignments
- Willingness to work off-shift, weekend, and shift coverage schedules
Education
Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade; coursework in Water Wastewater Technology from an accredited college or university is desirable. Possession of a college degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
Experience
Any combination of wastewater experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and competencies required for the applied position.
Certification
Possession of Grade III Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board is required. Possession of Grade IV, or V Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board is highly desirable.
Possession of a non-restricted California Driver's License is required.
