Canadian Water Market Leader

Primary Functions:

• Market and business development relating to the Canadian Water Market, promoting growth and sustainable profitability
• Promote the shared vision of the Strategic Plan for both GHD and Regionally within Canada
• Design and execution of a strategy to increase GHDs market share of private and  public sector water clients across the Canadian Business
• Direction, coordination and mentoring of water business development with the Business
• Leadership, direction and input on major tenders/bids
• Technical leadership on projects as required
Duty Statement: The Canadian Water Market Leader is primarily a strategic market and business development and co-ordination role for the Business. The role provides a vision and direction for the water market in accordance with the GHD strategy. This includes but is not limited to the following tasks:
• Leading and supporting the water business development undertaken in Canada, in addition to working closely with US Water Market Leader
• Playing a significant role in developing GHD’s business in Canada particularly ensuring a focus on creating medium and long term opportunities for GHD to realize
• Assessing market trends and strategies (greater than six months forward) for future opportunities and projects
• Driving and coordinating business development in the Canadian Regions in consultation with Regional leadership
• Promoting relationships with existing and potential clients. Increasing business by improving client relationships and strengthening repeat business. Expand client base by promoting GHD’s services proactively for the market in the region
• Leadership and accountability as Project Director on appropriate projects
• Identifying areas of practice( service lines), based on client feedback or market trends that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities
• Liaison and business development assistance across North America as required

Key Accountabilities:


The Canadian Water Market Leader drives the focus for business development across the Market and coordinates the contribution of other Market sectors regionally where required. The key objective is increased market penetration through expanded client relationships and new client acquisition that delivers increased and sustainable profit for the region and GHD.

 

 Specific Accountabilities
Strategic Planning
Provide the vision and direction for the Water Market for Canada in accordance with the GHD Strategy by:
– Devising strategy and implementation plans to improve GHD’s penetration and market share within the Regions in Canada.
– Driving and coordinating business development (including identification of potential alliances, mergers / acquisitions, etc).
– Actively participating in the coordination and integrated approach to market for all GHD services as they align with the Regions. Liaise with the respective Operational leaders and Technical Leaders and interface with the Centers of Excellence.
– Oversight and governance on the need for all GHD’s services for the Water sector within the Regions.
– Identifying shortfalls in services offered to clients within the sector in the region and influence the development or divestment of relevant service lines in the Region.
– Monitoring client activity across the markets within the region.
– Developing and communicating a set of agreed Key Performance Indicators in consultation with the Regional General Managers.

Client Focus

Facilitate the maintenance and development of existing strategic client relationships. Identify and establish plans for acquiring new clients for the regions by:
– Identifying and winning key clients and establish cost of retention.
– Ensuring a coordinated approach to maintaining client management systems, capturing regular contact and meetings with key clients.
– Monitoring and coordinating the key team requirements of Market projects in conjunction with the Operational Managers.

 

Financial Management
Contribute to GHD’s short and long term profitability by:
– Improving tender success rates and regional Market Sector revenue.
– Effective management of any designated budgets.
– Management of key market leader resources on significant proposals.
– Maintaining appropriate chargeable time on projects or specific bids/proactive client proposals (at least 20%) with the remainder of the time fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in this position description.
