Job Summary
TYLin | Greeley and Hansen Water Solutions' Program Management and Construction Management (PM+CM) team is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer to work on complex water, wastewater or transportation projects. The Assistant Resident Engineer will support project teams and the firm’s key regional clients in the construction inspection and oversight of capital projects. Position location: Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Inspect bridges, including railroad bridges and transportation-related structures.
- Inspect and coordinate material testing, review contractor submittals, requests for information, and coordinate with the contractor.
- Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of master project files and the resolution of design and coordination issues.
- Monitor the contractor’s work progress and schedule.
- Communicate project goals and gather information based on observations with client, contractor, or adjacent property owners.
- Coordinate activities with onsite inspectors and inform Resident Engineer of construction progress, problem areas, as well as progression of those problem areas.
- Prepare contracts for close-out, including as-builts and punch list reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):
- Education: B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Construction management is required.
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience in water or transportation engineering consulting performing studies, design, and construction services for municipal, state, or private clients.
- Certifications, Licenses: CCM or Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is preferred but not required.
- Experience shall include interfacing with contractors, experience in assisting in dispute resolution, and management oversight of TYLI and subconsultant staff assigned to the various aspects of the projects.
