i-Sewer

i-SEWER is a project of the Grimm Water Solutions UG, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (funding guideline: Digital GreenTech).

The aim of the project is the intelligent networking and coordination of municipal wastewater flows through Internet of Things and methods of artificial intelligence (reinforcement learning). By taking regional precipitation forecasts into account, overflows from combined sewerage systems into rivers and high investment costs for alternatively required retention areas should be avoided.

The Grimm Water Solutions UG is a high-tech start-up in the field of Smart Water Cities and prepares our modern civil society, living spaces and industry for digital change and increases their resilience with regard to the consequences of climate change, resource scarcity and urbanisation. With i-SEWER, we will develop an intelligent wastewater system for the city of Freiburg, which uses artificial intelligence to prevent untreated wastewater overflows from combined sewer systems into our flowing waters.
