District Sales Manager, Water Utility - Southern California

Grundfos is seeking a District Sales Manager to join our Water Utility team (remote, can be based anywhere in the Southern California). This role will focus on growing the Grundfos Water Utility (Municipal Market) business by defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling the activities within his/her defined geography and accounts. The territory for this position would include the Southern California. The District Sales Manager primary responsibility is to grow the business in the territory by supporting the Grundfos Business Partners who have front line responsibility for day-to-day sales and market activities with Grundfos end users. Also responsible for selling to existing and potential direct accounts in project sales situations. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
What is the job about?
- Participates with the Business Partner in a sales support role by making sales visits with the Business Partner. Also participates in local and regional trade shows so as to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
- Develops, maintains, and executes a territory plan.
- Continually assesses current Municipal / Water Utility distribution channels, develops and evaluates their performance and manages conflict, while ensuring alignment with territory plans.
- Provides training on Grundfos products, applications, and sales processes, and will provide/facilitate training and education to all levels of the sales channel.
- Maintains data relative to partners, accounts, and activities, and documents customer interactions. Prepares reporting as needed.
- Takes part in continued Education and Training programs and seminars, offered through and by Grundfos, to obtain and advance product, market and technical knowledge.
What do you need to apply?
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline along with 3 – 5 years of experience in the pump industry (experience with Dodge Reports and/or the municipal sales process a plus).
Professional sales skills including key account strategies and plans.
- In-depth knowledge of the Municipal / Water Utility market segment and a general knowledge of the other Grundfos target markets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pumps and pumping systems, rotating equipment including electronically controlled pump systems (VFD, controllers, etc.) used within the Municipal / Water Utility market.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations for all sizes of audiences for both internal and external customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs
- Must be able to travel up to 50%, if necessary, both domestically and internationally. Thus, candidates should be able to maintain valid identification
