Full-Stack Geospatial Developer
Published by Trudi Schifter, CEO and Founder AquaSPE for Gybe
Position summary + Responsibilities

As part of the product development and
operations teams, you will help develop a
scalable digital architecture that is capable
of ingesting, storing, and near-real time
 processing of large geospatial datasets
Specifically, this position will focus on
managing and assimilating high spatial and
spectral resolution raster image data from a
variety of satellite, aerial, and ground-based
 sensor platforms.
Additionally, this position will be responsible
for planning and implementing a flexible
 geospatial database solution and contribute
to an interactive web-based geospatial data
 visualization and analytics platform.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to
work both independently and as a member
of a small team to formulate, implement, and
assess data product features in a fast-moving
 start-up environment.
 The ideal candidate has demonstrated
 experience with geospatial database
solutions, is well versed in the fundamentals
of optical satellite remote sensing, and has
 hands-on experience with web-based data
 visualization applications.
 Familiarity with freshwater aquatic
 ecosystems as well as landscape-scale
 ecology, hydrology, and environmental
 monitoring concepts is a plus.
 Qualifications & Skills
 Requirements
 • Full-stack geospatial data expert: data
 ingestion, operational data management,
analytics, and visualization of satellitederived and in situ-sampled environmental
 monitoring data.
 • Hands-on experience with both publicly
 available and commercial optical satellite
imagery, ideally as they relate to water and
 ocean color remote sensing.
 • Demonstrated ability in designing,
 deploying, and operation of geospatial
 database systems.
 • Expert knowledge in Python and related
libraries (Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Matplotlib, …).
 • Experienced in scalable distributed
 systems and parallelization in cloud
 environments.
 • Experience in a distributed DevOps
 environment using a complete development
 pipeline (git, CI/CD, Kanban, Agile...).
 • Strong project management and
 communication skills.
 Nice to haves
 • Experience using open source and/or
commercial GIS platforms to create and
perform geospatial analyses, as well as
 create high-quality cartographic products
 (GDAL, QGIS, ArcGis, …).
 • Demonstrated ability in designing,
 prototyping, and deploying customized
 web-enabled geospatial data “dashboards”
 or other interactive data visualizations.
 • Working knowledge in frontend geospatial
 mapping and data visualization libraries
 (i.e., Plotly, Leaflet, OpenLayers, GeoServer,
 Mapbox, Carto, Tableau, D3.js, ...).
