Field Service Technician - Wastewater Treatment Plants

Position Summary
Headworks is seeking an experienced Wastewater Engineering Field Service Technician to install, repair, and troubleshoot our equipment in the field. The primary role of this position is to perform, under general direction, advanced customer support activities for wastewater screening and compaction equipment and process equipment. This position requires a self-starter that can hit the ground running with minimal training and supervision, requires 5+ years’ field service experience with industrial equipment, basic electrical controls knowledge, equipment training, and customer face-to-face roles with the passion to provide excellent customer service. Our service techs are well-paid heroes who keep wastewater treatment working for cities and industries across the globe, preserving clean water. Many of our employees who started as Engineering Service Techs were promoted to new roles within the Company. Depending on experience, salary is $65,000 to $85,000 a year.
Essential Functions
- Perform inspection of installations by contractors and start-up of Headworks equipment.
- Serve as on-site customer contact for technical and application-related problems.
- Train customers in proper preventive maintenance and operation of equipment.
- Retrofit and rebuild equipment for upgrades at site.
- Identify service and after-market parts sales opportunities and escalates that information.
- Develop and submit written detailed service reports.
- Follows safe work practices according to company policy and best industry practices.
- Involves the supervisor or product expert with challenging/complex problems.
- Provide Technical and Product Improvement recommendations to the engineering team.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of related experience and/or training.
- Practical experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment required.
- Experience with biological wastewater treatment processes and separation processes (DAF, clarifiers, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required - skilled at written and oral communication, able to work constructively with customers, able to clearly and effectively explain the function of equipment to customers and local operators.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and industry codes and standards.
- Ability to operate various tools and instruments including hydraulic tools, drills, grinders gages, and meters for electrical components.
- Previous experience with Wastewater Treatment Equipment a plus.
- Welding experience, especially on Stainless Steel is a plus.
- Ability to organize tasks and schedule work so that it is completed on time.
- Ability to effectively perform work independently or within a team.
- Bilingual helpful but not required.
- Valid U.S. passport or unrestricted Permanent Resident required.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.
Job Requirements
- This position requires 60-80% travel. Overnight travel is a requirement. Most weekends at home; however, may travel out to customers on Sundays.
- Unrestricted ability to travel internationally required.
- Practical experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment required.
- Possess or be able to obtain TWIC card.
- While performing the duties of this job, the service tech is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and left heavy parts.
