ICF is hiring a Senior Restoration/Water Resources Engineer to join our Restoration Planning and Design Team. You will work collaboratively with a team of accomplished water and natural resource professionals to pursue riverine, wetland, and estuarine habitat restoration design projects and hydrologic and hydraulic studies in Washington, Oregon, and California. You will support the growth and development of our team as a technical leader, mentor to junior staff, and principal contributor to business development activities. This role will be remote as we continue to move through the pandemic, but once on-site work resumes, you may be required to work from Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, San Francisco or Sacramento, CA. The option to stay remote may also be considered.

The ICF Restoration Planning and Design Team works with state and federal agencies, local governments, tribes, and other private clients to plan, design, implement, and conduct long-term monitoring of complex habitat restoration and mitigation projects. We are currently working on several exciting projects in the Columbia River Basin, Puget Sound, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and the Lower American, Upper Santa Ana, and Otay Rivers. We are a growing team of ecologists, landscape architects, geomorphologists, and engineers who are passionate about our work and put our clients’ needs first to achieve excellence in the quality of our technical work and project deliverables.

The Role

As a Senior Restoration/Water Resources Engineer with ICF, you will lead both hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for concept level planning and flood risk reduction projects, and the design and implementation of high-quality habitat restoration projects throughout Washington, Oregon, and California. Project work may include hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for FEMA studies and planning, and design and implementation of riverine, freshwater, and tidal wetland restoration projects. Riverine design projects may include analysis and design of in-channel rock structures, biotechnical bank stabilization, engineered logjams, large woody material structures, and fish passage improvement. Freshwater and tidal wetland restoration projects may include analysis and design of complex tidal morphology, levee breaches, and horizontal levees. You will oversee and support the preparation of  technical documents including hydrology and hydraulics reports; construction plans, specifications, engineers estimate of probable cost, and basis of design reports; and, Habitat Mitigation and Monitoring Plans that are tailored to meet the specific environmental or regulatory compliance requirements and address the target audience. You will work with clients, technical experts, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to successfully deliver projects on-time and under budget. As a member of multidisciplinary project teams your project role will include both project management and technical leadership. You will have the competency to work on your own with limited supervision, mentor junior engineers and designers and review their work. You will work with team members in offices up and down the West Coast, maintaining working relationships with infrequent face-to-face contact and be willing to undertake periodic short-term travel to sometimes relatively remote locations.
