Senior Software Development Manager

Itron is looking for a Sr. Software Development Manager to oversee the continued development of our first-of-its-kind Distributed Intelligence platform. Come be a part of history as we rollout this groundbreaking solution, enabling Utilities around the world to modernize and revolutionize the world’s electric grids! This position will oversee the daily operations of engineering teams, ensuring on time, high-quality, continuous delivery of value to our end customers while building a positive people-centered culture focused on teamwork and mentoring team members in their career and personal aspirations. Additionally, the position will participate in a global leadership team to help deliver on a cloud-first strategy, aligning to Agile and DevOps principles while working to transform Itron’s software development methodologies and approach to software delivery around the globe.
Required Skills & Experience:
- A passion for people, mentoring and coaching
- A proven track record of delivering high quality software in a large scale, global environment
- Being open to coaching, new ways of thinking, and challenging the status quo
- Experience managing teams of 8 or more direct reports in Software and/or Firmware Development
- Experience managing remote teams, including teams in distant time zones
- Strong belief in continuous delivery, automated build and release pipelines, and the “Everything-as-Code” mantra, including software, infrastructure and configuration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Project and/or Program Management Experience
- Working knowledge, training or certification related to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). SAFe 4.6 or 5.0 preferred.
- Infrastructure and Operations experience
- Compliance experience and knowledge, including SOC2 and ISO 27001
- Experience leading multiple teams, large number of direct reports or managing managers
- Testing and automation background
Desirable Technical Experience:
- Microsoft Azure
- Kubernetes and Docker Containers
- Linux
- Microservices architecture, patterns and practices
- C# .NET, .NET Core and cross platform development
- C/C++
- SQL Server/SQL Azure
- Azure DevOps Services
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Travel: 0 - 15%
