Disabled girls in rural Zambia faces many problems that put their lives at risk, preventing them from getting a good education and fulflling their potential. The cycle of poverty starts early and they are most vulnerable during adolescence. Born into poor families many girls fail to stay in school; many are tempted to have sex for money - just to survive or buy simple things, like a pen for school; or are married as early as 13 or 14 because their family see disabilitie in them.

The Maboshe Memorial Centre (MMC) was founded by Patrick Maboshe the Son to late Dr. Maboshe Ronald Aongola Maboshe at the age of 26 years old, after the death of his father Dr. Maboshe Ronald Aongola Maboshe who had traveled extensively throughout Western, Zambia during his lifetime and shared a deep concern and compassion for the welfare of the underprivileged disabled children and other vulnerable children. Based in Western province, the MMC is managed by Maboshe Patrick Maboshe who serves as Executive Director respectively.

We lost Maboshe Ronald Aongola Maboshe on the 24th November, 2002, yet his legacy remains. He demonstrated that it is never too late to help those in need. The generosity of his spirit and his passion for the rural/remote vulnerable  is a guiding principle for many of the projects implemented by MMC. Maboshe’s spirit lives on through the lives that are given hope.
