The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Waste & Water Treatment Process Engineer (m/f/x) at our plant in Zwijndrecht, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Process engineering oversight of wastewater treatment operations, including:
- Evaluate effectiveness of work processes and treatment technologies in achieving water discharge permit requirements. Communicate findings and recommendations for correction of gaps to operational leadership.
- Identify and monitor WWTP key process indicators and process data trends. Lead WWTP troubleshooting efforts (as necessary)
- Utilize subject matter expertise to lead teams and advise colleagues on best practice water strategies, solutions, and implementation.
- Develop and maintain standard work and process control procedures for WWTP
- Lead an investigation team and ensuring proper response, reporting, and investigation of incidents
- Manage in house laboratory and data quality
- Initiate and support WWTP engineering projects
- Responsible for initiating and conducting broadly defined technical tasks and programs for wastewater process improvement and permit and regulatory compliance oversight.
- Actively participates in and may lead project planning efforts. Suggests changes or future direction as needed. Participates in implementing changes and future direction.
- Involved with the implementation of environmental stewardship, sustainability, and continuous improvement programs
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Extensive Wastewater Engineering experience
- Expertise in wastewater and water treatment processes including physical/chemical and biological treatment systems
- Expertise in local and European permit compliance and water quality regulations
- Fluent in English
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university. Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous wastewater engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is highly desirable
- Experience with operations and design of UF and RO membranes
- Experience in process engineering, design engineering, project management and/or manufacturing/production
- Experience in environmental compliance reporting
- Experience with spreadsheet and/or database application programs (such as Microsoft Excel and/or Access and SharePoint)
- Strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively in teams
- Ability to distill complex topics into actionable updates for management (provide clarity)
- Fluent in Dutch
