Senior Wastewater Process Engineer

wastewater process engineer with talent and drive to join our water and wastewater division. You will be
working as part of a small, yet skilled and experienced global engineering team to implement Microvi’s suite
of wastewater technologies into the water industry. You will be involved in projects from early-stage design
and prototype work to full-scale design and commissioning, so a combination of strong desk-based
engineering and practical hands-on abilities will be required to successfully fulfil the role. An ideal candidate
will have experience in all stages of product development in this sector to help drive products throughout
their entire lifecycles.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Work with Microvi’s product development team to develop and implement prototype at lab and pilot scale for technology
development and full-scale design purposes
• Support business development/sales teams with enquiries and development of proposals as well as technical presentations
to clients, consultants and contractors
• Prepare the process design and specification of full-scale, demonstration, and pilot systems at all project stages (initial
budgetary, preliminary, firm proposal, implementation)
• Develop the basis of design, undertake detailed calculations to develop the design and the heat & material balance, and be
responsible for the accuracy of these calculations
• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams, Equipment specifications, Process Descriptions, Control Philosophies, and P&IDs for review
and approval
• Perform safety related calculations and provide input to HAZOPs, SIL, and other safety reviews as directed
• Undertake process design work as required and check work on the project as appropriate
• Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
• Ensure that design methods, standards, and data used conform with Client's requirements and those issued by Microvi
• Liaison with contractors and clients in implementation of on-site systems
• Prepare/review of operating and maintenance manuals
• Supervise and operate pilot demonstration systems, providing direction to partners, clients, plant operators and junior staff
• Lead process commissioning of full-scale installations
• Analyze process performance data to create empirical/mechanistic models for use in developing process design tools
• Develop and apply process design calculations of Microvi’s system for integration into treatment processes
• Further develop Microvi’s technology alongside other engineering disciplines and third parties
• Prepare and publish articles for technical journals and industry press
• Prepare and deliver presentations at technical conferences
• Supervise and mentor junior staff
Qualifications
• Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or equivalent
• Certification or licensing as an engineer desirable but not essential
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of wastewater ideally within a process contractor, technology vendor or engineering consultant
• Past experience in innovative technology development desirable but not essential
• Process / Mechanical commissioning experience and/or pilot plant operation of wastewater treatment facilities
• High degree of design and operational expertise on traditional and new and upcoming wastewater treatment technologies
• Understanding of current and future legislation and other drivers for the wastewater industry
• Prepared to travel across the US and internationally (where required) for short durations
• Proven track record of presenting at technical conferences
