About the role
To support our growing business needs and requirements, a role has arisen for an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our Compliance based team in Applecross.
Reporting to our Senior Environmental Advisor - Compliance, you will use your demonstrated experience to assist the environmental compliance and closure team to ensure the company operates as per our legislative environmental obligations.
What we’re after
We’re looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and enjoys a challenging yet rewarding work environment. You will be responsible for;
- Assist in managing the MRL environmental compliance portfolio in alignment to MRL policy and legislation.
- Assist with the process of environmental risk management within the company.
- Assist in the development / maintenance and continuous improvement of the MRL environmental management system which aligns to the ISO14001 standard.
- Assist with the management of environmental compliance schedules to ensure deadlines are met and stakeholders are kept informed on progress.
- Assist the timely submission of all statutory regulatory reports in accordance with identified legal obligations.
- Assist with and/or undertake internal audits and facilitate external environmental audits and inspections.
- Monitor and provide advice to the company on relevant environmental compliance and closure matters.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science and/or Environmental Management
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a mining environment.
- Working knowledge of Environmental Legislation relevant to the Mining Industry.
- Proven experience in the administration of Environmental Management Systems aligned to ISO14001:2015. (highly desirable).
- Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office suite and ArcGIS.
- Proven experience in Mining Industry Compliance and Annual Reporting.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills (Drafting training material, management plans and procedures etc.).
- Solid compliance background with skill in Environmental Management Systems (desirable).
- GIS experience (desirable).
