We have an immediate opening in our Strategic Sales Channel for a Strategic Account Executive for the Company’s Mueller Systems product line in the Western United States. This region includes select targets in the states West of the Mississippi River.
This exempt-level sales position has direct regional sales responsibility in the assigned area. Primary sales are directed toward a targeted list of established municipalities and end users within the region. Working under the direction of the Director of Metrology Sales, the Strategic Account Executive is provided the opportunity to learn or expand upon his/her knowledge of the water distribution industry and sales knowledge/strategies, all while earning a competitive base salary plus commissions! Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Call on end users to promote new and existing product lines and develop a favorable specification position.
- Market research / inside sales to determine potential opportunities and routes to market
- Understand clients’ needs, and design solutions using Mueller metering, technology & software platforms
- Provide complete service to both established and new customers including: quotations, product training, technical and literary support, product complaint, inventory maintenance, and delivery issues.
- Perform product training for end users and other customers to promote advantages of Mueller products and enhance specification position.
- Develop cooperative relationships with customers and/or end user personnel to enhance product demand.
- Establish sales goals and specification opportunities to meet the company’s sales plan and business objectives.
- Identify significant bid/tender opportunities and provide complete project information, including price strategy.
- Prepare quotations, technical proposals, RFP and tender responses, presentations, etc.
- Understand and demonstrate the company’s metering, technology, & software products and services solutions
- Marketing, such as attending conferences, publishing technical papers and case studies, etc. for the purpose of promoting Mueller solutions
- Other duties as may be assigned by the company
- Provide after sale service support, including warranty and claims management.
- Continuously update the Company’s CRM system for territory.
- Provide sales management with monthly, quarterly & annual sales forecast and market overview.
Position Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or a science discipline
- Proven track record of exceeding established sales quotas and/or technical experience
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in technical and/or sales roles, preferably in the water industry
- Ability to work independently to drive sales in assigned territory
- Passion to grow and develop career with a growth-oriented company
- Critical competencies: Presentation Skills, Learning on the Fly, Interpersonal Savvy, Listening, Organizational Agility, Drive for Results
- Comfortable with public speaking engagements and the ability to deliver presentations to large (30+) groups of customers and other external contacts. Have ability to stand and give presentations for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 40 lbs. to maneuver products during demonstrations.
- Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Trained and proficient in Solution & consultative selling methodology
- Experience in selling to the water market
- Technical experience in water measurement, meter sizing & selection. Experience in meter reading technologies, systems & software a plus

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. Work hours will vary based on customer hours. Evening customer meetings may be required during sales travel. This position is salaried exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay.
