Your Opportunity

In your role as an Industrial Water Senior Engineer you will support our fast-growing industrial practice meeting the water supply and treatment needs for our clients in Mining, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Power, Oil & Gas, and Manufacturing.

You will be located in one of our Ontario or Atlantic Canadian offices and work with brilliant specialists from across our North American operations.

Our perfect candidate will have experience as a consulting engineer designing and/or managing water treatment projects for industrial clients. This role will require a balance of technical leadership, engineering, and design management. The eligible candidate will also have an opportunity to participate in business development and proposal preparation.

Your Key Responsibilities

Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec

Lead conceptual design basis reports, engineering assessments, data analysis and design calculations

Lead the preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, and provide coordination of multidiscipline drawing sets as required for Industrial Water projects

Lead the preparation of construction specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals to regulators on behalf of clients

Provide independent and quality reviews for peers on other projects within your technical subject matter expertise

Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior staff and peers as needed through the project delivery process

Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and regulators as needed always using a professional communications approach

Conduct occasional site visits to support proposals, project development, or business development.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Proven technical skills applicable to delivering Industrial Water projects

Firm grasp of water/wastewater treatment engineering design technologies and water/wastewater characterization (industrial)

Understanding of typical industrial water needs and wastewater sources, including internal service water, boilers, and cooling water.

Understanding of all phases of project delivery, client procurement procedures, and typical industrial water regulatory approval processes

Experience in, or developing skills in Project Management for delivering Industrial Water projects

Experience in managing client expectations and engineering budgets

Experience in proposal writing

Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines

Works in a team environment without direct supervision

Proficient writer and communicator

Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe

Completion of a Master’s degree in Water/Wastewater Treatment is considered an asset

Experience with process simulation modelling is considered an asset (hydraulic modelling, BioWin, HYSYS etc.)

Holds a valid drivers’ licence

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution

Licensed Professional Engineer

Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
