Senior Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the successful execution of NSU’s wastewater treatment and water reuse projects, from development of prospects through engineering, permitting, construction, and operations. This position requires a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working independently. This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Design/Build and is heavily client facing. Candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

• Collaborate with and direct internal teams, external consultants, regulators, and subcontractors as well as Client’s staff and project team, etc.

• Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client expectations and requirements as well as NSU’s high standards for quality, innovation and performance.

• Manage and review technical tasks including research, reports, designs, specifications, and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost effective execution of assigned projects.

• Serve as primary client liaison to ensure client satisfaction.

• Work with Business Development group to support proposal efforts.

• Develop positive and profitable relationships with prospective clients.

• Make presentations on behalf of the company as required.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• Have ability to travel approximately one week per month.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May directly supervise employees.

• Indirectly supervise staff within Design/Build group on project specific and proposal specific bases.

• Indirectly supervise internal and external project team members to ensure project performance.

• Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with NSU’s policies and applicable laws.

• Interview and mentor employees.

• Plan, assign, and direct work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of experience in managing complex water/wastewater treatment design and construction projects. Experience working for small to mid-sized companies in the private sector preferred.

• Reliable source of transportation and active driver’s license

• Experience with scheduling and management of diverse design and construction teams.

• Certificates, licenses and registrations required/desired:

*REQUIRED. Bachelor's Degree (BS) from four-year college or university in civil or environmental engineering, project management, construction management, or related discipline.

*DESIRED. California Professional Engineering licensure

*DESIRED. PMP Certification, or equivalent

*DESIRED. LEED Certification, or equivalent

• Technology skills required:

* Advanced proficiency on Microsoft platform (including MS Project or equivalent)

* Proficient with smartphone user applications, search engines, and electronic communications

* Working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT
