Position Overview
The Applications Engineer (AE) at Aqua-Chem performs a variety of complex technical assignments such as review specifications, selection of equipment, proposal generation and cost estimation. The AE follows the execution of projects from receipt of RFQ thru shipping. The employee will provide technical support to sales during the proposal process including recommendations for value engineered propositions and specification compliant propositions. The employee will also be the technical expert in the area in which assigned.
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Location: Knoxville, TN | On-Site
Pay Range: Dependent on Experience | $95,000 - $145,000

Essential Duties:
- Review specifications to Standard offerings.
- Develop Technical Clarifications/Exceptions to Specifications.
- Support Sales Team during Proposal stage (technical support, client-facing support).
- Size equipment as needed including, but not limited to, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Water Pretreatment Equipment, Evaporator Systems, RO Systems.
- Prepare Proposal Drawings (e.g. P&ID, General Arrangement drawing, Component Lists).
- Obtain technical quotes for non-standard equipment/components.
- Develop (redline) Project P&ID..
- Specify Non-Standard Valves and Instruments.
- Work directly with Project Engineers during technical execution of project
- Develop a Process Functional Description for Non-Standard products.
- Develop test procedures from specifications and standard test procedures.
- Approve drawings/BOMs per established procedures with input from sketches, calculations, specifications, etc.
- Prepare test reports as necessary for customer review and approval.
- Review technical manuals for drawings and component literature.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Education/Experience:
- 4- year engineering degree (BSME or BSChE)
- Preferably 7+ years of experience in the Life Sciences and/or Food and Beverage water purification.
Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work for US employer
- Good interpersonal skills are required to interface with functional leaders across the company.
- Candidate must be proficient in manipulating large amounts of cost data in MS Excel and other cost databases.
- Able to work overtime as required
