OpenCEL
About
OpenCEL is an environmental biotechnology company that offers a proprietary technology which significantly improves processing of wastewater biosolids. Utilized for pretreating wastewater sludge prior to anaerobic digestion, the technology employs high frequency electrical pulses to break open biomass cell membranes, releasing soluble material that is more readily digested and converted to energy, reducing the amount of biosolids that are produced and disposed.
With anintellectual property portfolio of 12 issued patents,OpenCEL hasadditional patents pending and in development.
OpenCEL has a long-standing affiliation with Dr. Bruce Rittman, Director of the Sweette Center for Environmental Biotechnology at Arizona State University. Most of the research and development activities of OpenCELwere conducted at ASU under Dr. Rittman's direction. OpenCEL has over 20 published papers directly relating to digester pretreatment and denitrification with an additional 25 published papers utilizing OpenCEL technology for other applications.
We are part of the Trojan Technologies group of businesses. Collectively, this group is dedicated to providing water confidence and has played an important role in the development of many of today's water treatment innovations.
